The word for this week is Open Mindedness

It seems that God is highlighting so many issues to deal with racism, prejudice, and stereotypes. He’s doing it in our country and also globally. It’s a very complicated, problem that there are no simple answers or solutions.¬†

I have been doing a lot of soul-searching and praying and talking to my African-American friend about the situation. As a counselor, my focus is always heart issues. I have asked the Lord to search my heart for any signs of racism  What I found was I have had prejudice and stereotypes

What is prejudice? It’s a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience it’s an assumption it’s a bias, making prejudgments. When I discovered in my own heart were stereotypes and prejudices of different races, religions, even different denominations of churches within the body of Christ or anyone who I perceived as different.

I talked to my friend and admitted I had some prejudice and stereotypes and asked for her forgiveness and also repented before the Lord. It is His desire that the Body of Christ are ministers of reconciliation. We are to treat everyone no matter how different they are as precious before the Lord.

This week’s challenge:

When you feel the urge to judge someone based upon differences such as race, politics, theology, remember we are called to be minsters of reconcialtion, not division.
